What herbs are used in this blend?
Oats is a natural mood lifter, restorative nerve tonic, diaphoretic, nutritive, that also lowers cholesterol. Oat seed has restorative properties for the nervous system.
Hops is found in many pet remedies and used for both separation anxiety and the tendency towards hyper-excitability. Hops has a long history in supporting better sleep patterns, reducing feelings of panic, restlessness and nervousness.
Skullcap demonstrates anti-bacterial, anti spasmodic, sedative and cooling properties and adds value as a nerve tonic helping ease irritability and nervousness and mental and emotional stress and exhaustion. Skullcap is a nerve restorer and is often found in remedies with valerian root as they both work well without causing drowsiness
Valerian is used by herbalists to calm and soothe and to promte relaxation, particularly for nervousness or terror. Valerian has traditionally been known as the sleep herb for its ability to induce a more peaceful sleep and to ease tension headaches and tension stomach aches. Unsuitable for horses about to breed
Liquorice is sourced from the root of the liquorice plant, Liquorice has multiple actions including soothing gastric mucus, and is a specific remedy for adrenal exhaustion. Liquorice is valuable when suffering from fatigue and digestive upsets. If an animal has been on steroids, Liquorice is recommended to support the body during the withdrawal process. Liquorice has been used traditionally for 3,000+ years. Please see caution below
Nettle has been included to add nutritional value. Nettle is rich in chlorophyll and many vitamins and minerals including magnesium, calcium and iron and the vitamins C, K, B2, B5, folic acid, beta-carotene, amino acids and other compounds. Nettle is commonly used to assist in clearing uric acid and for ‘reactive’ conditions in the body
Are there any precautions?
Although this remedy contains only a small percentage of Liquorice (diluted) extract, as a precaution, those with high blood pressure, congestive heart failure, kidney or liver disease, are best to use the reduced maintenance dose as shown on on label or take when needed, rather than ongoing daily dosing.
